An Iliad

To the dismay of many classicists, Alessandro Baricco has turned the oldest epic poem into a shortened prose adventure tale, no longer THE ILIAD but merely AN ILIAD. Still, the story ripples with violence and life, and though it may be a diminished version of the original, the heroics of Achilles and the fall of Troy is an evocative tale no matter what armor it dons before going into battle.
